Link Legal hosts an Infrastructure Focused Event in Tokyo, Japan - 05 July 2018

Link Legal jointly with Atsumi & Sakai, a leading Japan based law firm organised a knowledge sharing session on “Indian Infrastructure Sector – Opportunities, Challenges & Risks” at Tokyo on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Embassy of India, Tokyo.

India and Japan, two of the largest and oldest democracies in Asia have a high degree of congruence of political, economic and strategic interests. Currently, over 1300 Japanese entities operate in India and the numbers are likely to grow steadily. Also, India is the largest recipient of Japanese official development assistance (ODA). The bilateral trade between India and Japan is expected to reach US $50 billion by fiscal year 2019-20. Japan has been associated with the assistance and know-how for various Indian projects including Delhi Metro, Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet-train project, Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project etc.

Thus, with the keen interest of Japanese market in Indian infrastructure sector, Link Legal, a leading firm in infrastructure sector having advised on various Indian projects including airports, ports, roads, metro, railways, smart cities, industrial corridors etc. organised this focused event jointly with Atsumi & Sakai where various opportunities existing in Indian infrastructure sector were shared. Also, the legal framework, existing PPP structures for the infrastructure sector in India was discussed and deliberated.

The event was supported by Embassy of India (Tokyo), Invest India (National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of India) and JETRO (Government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world).

Shri. Ravindra Verma, Counsellor (Deputy Railway Advisor), Embassy of India, Tokyo was the keynote speaker for the event and shared his views on Investment opportunities in the Indian infrastructure sector.

Mr. Atul Sharma, Managing Partner, Link Legal along with Mr. Dinesh Pardasani, Partner Link Legal, Ms. Miho Niunoya, Senior Partner, Atsumi & Sakai and Mr. Ashish Jejurkar, Partner, Atsumi & Sakai were the expert speakers for the session.
