Mr. Atul Sharma, Managing Partner was a panelist on the topic “Bureaucracy, Judiciary and Dispute Resolution” at the India Infrastructure Forum 2018 - 09 April 2018

India Infrastructure Forum, an initiative of India Infrastructure Publishing recently held its first Annual Meeting and Summit in Delhi on April 9 and 10, 2018. The Forum brought together various stake holders such as government officials, developers, regulatory agencies, investors, management consultants and legal professionals and give them a platform to discuss the key issues faced by the infrastructure sector and to highlight key government initiatives and investment opportunities in the same.

Our Managing Partner, Mr. Atul Sharma was invited as a panelist on the topic “Bureaucracy, Judiciary and Dispute Resolution” along with Mr. H.L. Bajaj, Co-Chairman, IEF and Former Member, Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, Mr. K. Sethuraman, Head, Legal, L&T IDPL and Mr. Jayant Kawale, Managing Director, RattanIndia Power. They shared their thoughts on the topics:

  • What can be done to increase awareness and understanding of infrastructure-related issues among the judiciary?
  • Is there any progress on protecting bureaucrats from 3C prosecution in case of “genuine errors” as recommended by the Kelkar Committee?
  • Is this a realistic goal? Is it possible to reduce the number of steps and/or the length of time taken in dispute resolution?
